Lower in Fat & Calories

Grassland's grass fed beef has 30% fewer calories per serving than grain fed due to less fat.   Grain fed beef has four to six times more total fat than grass fed and more saturated fat, which is associated with heart disease.

Omega - 6/3 Ratio

Grass fed has an average omega 6:3 ratio of 3:1, which equals fish and chicken.  Grain fed beef creates an omega 6:3 ratio of 20:1, generating much higher risk of heart disease, auto immune ailments and inflammation.

Safer, happier cows and no Mad ones either

Pasture reared, grass fed, certified organic animals feed only on the pastures where they graze.  They eat no feed rations and thus ther is never any fear of the mad cow disease, which is the result of the animals eating rations prepared off the farm site.   Also, grass fed animals do not develop acidosis, whereas grain fed animals develop an acidic environment suited to virulent e-coli propogation.  There has never been a recorded case of virulent e-coli from a certified organic, grass fed beef product.

Global Warming

Grass pastures are 50% more effective than cultivated soils at removing carbon, an important contribution in the battle against greenhouse warming.

Why USA, Certifed Organic Grass Fed,   Family Farm Beef?

In this age of globalization, grass fed beef from the prairie country of our great country’s Northern Plains is a local product!

Nowhere in the world is there an ecosystem better designed to support ungulates and ruminants than our own Great Northern Plains.  We own a ranch in North Dakota and we are working closely with the Montana Organic Producers Cooperative and the Organic Grassfed Beef Coalition to provide these dedicated and good ranchers a market for their product.

It is very difficult for American producers of organic grass fed beef to find a fair market for their great product because cheap foreign imports are what the big retailers are buying.  Meat products have no Country Of Origin Labeling (COOL) regulations, and just because a package of meat says USDA does not mean it is American, USA grown beef!  So please, support our Prairies Family Farmers!

American Family Farms
 Deserve Our Support!

IMG_3715_small.jpg (7122 bytes)

Our support of local, certified organic family farms and farmers is cructial to the survival of a home grown, safe, wholesome and nutritious food supply in our country.  In this age of globalization, buying meats from the American heartland is buying local!

The praries in our country’s heartland are by design the ideal environment to raise hoofed animals.  Bison roamed and thrived for thousands of years on these grasslands and a pasture based systm of cattle management mimics what nature perfected.

A pasture based system produces healthy animals without the need for chemical inputs.  A pasture based farming system is a net oxygen production system, actually fighting greenhouse warming and the meat tastes great!!
